Korea’s Fun “14th Day” Culture – A Month-by-Month Guide!

Every Month Has a Love Day? Welcome to Korea’s 14th-Day Culture! 💌

In many countries, Valentine’s Day is the only big love holiday.

But in Korea? Love gets a special shout-out on the 14th of every month — with some days being sweet, some a little silly, and some just perfect excuses to give (or receive!) gifts.

Here’s your month-by-month guide to Korea’s quirky “14th-day” celebrations.

January 14 – Diary Day 📓✍️

Couples give each other a diary or planner to fill with plans, anniversaries, and cute messages for the year ahead. (Single? Treat yourself to a fresh notebook and start writing your K-drama-worthy love story.)

February 14 – Valentine’s Day 🍫❤️

Unlike in the U.S., in Korea women give chocolate to men on this day — often as a confession of love. The guys have to wait a month before they can return the favor.

March 14 – White Day 🍬💝

Men give candy (and often bigger gifts) to women in return for the chocolates they received on Valentine’s Day. Sweet tooth season, part two!

April 14 – Black Day 🍜🖤

For singles who got nothing on Valentine’s or White Day — this is your day! People eat jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) with friends, laughing about their “single life.”

May 14 – Rose Day 🌹💐

Couples exchange roses and enjoy romantic dates outdoors as spring flowers are in full bloom. Great day for a flower delivery, if you ask us 😉.

June 14 – Kiss Day 😘💋

The name says it all — couples celebrate with a kiss (or many). Public displays of affection? Totally allowed today.

July 14 – Silver Day 🥈💍

Time to talk about the future — couples exchange silver rings or jewelry, often as a pre-engagement promise.

August 14 – Green Day 🍃🍺

Couples go for walks in nature and drink soju in green bottles. Singles? You can still enjoy a picnic with friends.

September 14 – Photo Day & Music Day 📸🎶

Take cute couple selfies, make new playlists, and capture memories. Social media is extra busy on this day.

October 14 – Wine Day 🍷

Couples share a bottle of wine (or two) and enjoy cozy autumn evenings together.

November 14 – Movie Day 🎬🍿

A perfect excuse for a movie marathon date — whether at the theater or snuggled up at home.

December 14 – Hug Day 🤗

The year ends with warmth — couples give each other big, loving hugs. Singles? Hug your friends, family, or even your dog.

Bonus!

November 11 – Pepero Day 🍫🥖 (빼빼로데이)

Not a 14th-day holiday, but too popular to skip. On 11/11, people exchange Pepero (thin cookie sticks covered in chocolate) because the date looks like four Pepero sticks in a row. It’s especially loved by students and young couples — sweet, cute, and a little bit silly.

💡 Fun fact: While some of these days are more “for fun” than serious traditions, they’re a playful part of Korean pop culture — and a great reason to give flowers, gifts, or just show someone you care.

By the way, out of all these quirky celebrations, the most popular ones in Korea would definitely be Valentine’s Day (Feb 14), White Day (Mar 14), Black Day (Apr 14), and of course, the snack-lover’s favorite, Pepero Day (Nov 11).
